Consultancy

The nutrition for mushrooms is dead organic material. For agaricus spec. a fermentation process has to be started to transfer wheat straw or strawy horse-manure into fermented compost.
This Phase I fermentation needs much practical skill and experience because the raw-materials and outside conditions are changing constantly. On these changes the compost maker has to react on instinct.

We as Hollander BV have the practical people to guide the composting process and our customers can send compost samples for chemical analysing. On the results of the analyses we advise the necessary changes to get optimal compost.

After fermentation the compost has to be finished for spawning by pasteurisation and conditioning. At this peak-heating the ammonia has to be transferred into proteins under controlled conditions and specific temperature ranges. Our customers can send temp. Graphics to us and we give advise how to improve this process in order get better and more constant results.

We do visit the composting yards and farms of our customers to advice at the spot and explain backgrounds in order to improve the results.
Also at casing and cropping we advise our customers how to change watering and climatically control settings in order to improve the yields, the quality and the shelf-life of the produced mushrooms. By our consultancy the picking rate will be improved and the losses caused by diseases will be decreased.

We will advise how to use chemicals optimally and how to avoid insects and infections by parasitic moulds like Verticillium. We are always available to reply on technical questions by mail, fax and phone, because we do realize that growers are many times in an isolated situation and like to communicate about their concerns.
